GA Young Mother Shot During Attempted Robbery

Indianapolis Shooting

Clayton County, Georgia – Law enforcement officials in Jonesboro report a woman was shot in the head after luring a man she met on social media to her apartment where 3 armed men lay in wait for him.

Police say they were called to a report of a shooting that occurred at around 9:00 p.m. Sunday night at Chase Ridge Apartments located near Highway 85.

When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Sijeria Parks with a gunshot wound to the head. Medics quickly arrived to transport the wounded mother of two small children to the hospital in critical condition.

During the course of the investigation, detectives where told by the victim that Parks had invited him over to her home, but when he arrived, three armed men were waiting for him inside.

The victim drew a gun and fired multiple shots in an attempt to get away and Parks was shot in the head as she ran for cover amid the shooting.

The victim called the police immediately to report the shooting and officers report he is cooperating with detectives as they attempt to unravel the evidence.

Police have not been able to locate the three male suspects in the shooting because they fled the scene, leaving their young accomplice to her fate.

“They need to go get a job and stop trying to rob folks, but the tables turned on them last night,” neighbor Cynthia McKenzie told Fox 5 reporters.

Another witness told the news outlet he’d heard the men outside the apartment planning the robbery,

“Young men I have never seen before were discussing something. You could hear them saying, ‘… you know he has a lot of money.’ You could tell they were plotting.”

Then later that night he heard the gunshots.

“I was actually in the kitchen and I heard two-three big booms to the point where I’m like, ‘what’s going on?’”

McKenzie said she hopes police catch the suspects, but is prepared if they don’t:

“I hope they find them (suspects), but if they don’t find them, I got something for them if they come over my way.”
