“I Got Something for You!” Elderly Woman Tells Burglar.

A 79-year-old woman from Jackson County, GA, used her gun to keep away a burglar who broke into her home February 12th.

“I’m just scared, Ma’am … Please hurry. Please hurry,” she whispered over the phone with the police dispatcher. “Please, please dear God. Lord have mercy.”

The unidentified woman called 911 to report the attack which occurred at around 12:00 in the afternoon.

“I’m watching the door that they were trying to get in. Ooh, they’re breaking glass. They’re trying to get in the back door. Hurry. Hurry. Please,”” she says in the 911 recording, her voice becoming more frantic.

Then, perhaps fed up with waiting for help, the elderly woman’s fiery personality showed itself.

“Okay, come on! I got something for you!” she shouts at the man breaking into her home.

Then she fires a shot at the burglar.

The burglar, undeterred by the shot, simply moved to an upstairs door on the house and broke in at that location. Then he began to rummage through her things in the bedroom there.

Meanwhile, the 79-year-old woman remained on the phone with the dispatcher in her kitchen, watching the stairs leading the second floor.

“I’m waitin’ on ya’, come on!” she shouts from the first floor. “When you come down those stairs, I’m gonna blow your damn brains out!”

From where she was at in the kitchen, she could hear the man upstairs:

“They’re upstairs talking crazy,” she tells the dispatcher. “Something wrong with ‘em,”

Then another shot could be heard and the elderly woman shouting threats.

“Come one! Come on down if you’re scared!”

The dispatcher asks, “Are you shootin at him again?” and is told,

“Yes ma’am, he just climbed back up the stairs.”

Police arrived soon after and found 20-year-old Hans Rogers of Dallas still in the home and hiding in a closet.

The daughter of the elderly woman said:

“He made the comment to my mother, you know, ‘B****, you’re trying to kill me,’ because, you know, she was shooting at him.”

She went on to praise her mother’s fortitude in the face of danger.

“She didn’t allow herself to become a victim. My mother’s a very strong woman. I know where I get my strength from, now.  As a matter of fact, I think she’s a little stronger. I don’t know if I could have handled that situation as well as she did,” the daughter continued. “My mother’s a very spiritual person … if she wanted to hit him, she could have hit him … She just wanted to keep him off of her.”

She went on to say that she was told by the Jackson County Sheriff that Rogers had medical issues requiring prescription medications which he did not take that day, which could be a factor in the case detectives are building on the burglar.

The victim’s daughter said that she just wants help for the man,

“Looking back on it, I thank God that he found my mother, and not someone else, because he could have been dead, now.”
